The ideal candidate will have experience in longitudinal biobehavioral research with pregnant individuals and/or infants, strong data analysis and programming skills (e.g. R, Matlab, and/or Python), and will be highly motivated to publish first-author papers using existing data. Responsibilities will include supervising data collection and quality control, spearheading data processing and analysis, writing manuscripts, preparing conference presentations, and writing mentored grant proposals.
Required education and expertise: PhD in Psychology, Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Human Development, Biobehavioral Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, or related field. Experience in coding in one or more languages (Matlab, Python, R) is required. Experience processing child physiological data (e.g. EEG) is preferred, but not required. Individuals with diverse perspectives are especially encouraged to apply. The position is available beginning September 2024 and requires a minimum two-year commitment.
Interested individuals should send a CV and cover letter (including contact information for 3 references) to Lauren.Costello@nyulangone.org.
Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer Research Assistant (RA) in our lab! In the DOLPHIN Study, our research examines the role of the prenatal environment on vulnerability for both perinatal maternal mental health concerns and child neurodevelopmental outcomes in order to identify mechanisms, objective markers, and modifiable factors associated with resiliency.
RAs assist in activities related to recruitment and retention of study participants and administration of study procedures. Duties will primarily include assisting in collecting infant behavioral and EEG data under the supervision of our Research Associates. Because of the extensive training that we give our research assistants (so that you can be involved in many aspects of our research!), we require a two-semester commitment. We also ask that you commit to a minimum of 6 hours per week.
Most of our RAs are undergraduates who are pursing degrees in Psychology, Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Human Development, or a related field and have an interest in gaining research experience. Because we work with young infants and pregnant persons, a flexible schedule and strong interpersonal skills are a must.
Interested individuals should email a CV (including contact information for 3 references) to Lauren Costello at Lauren.Costello@nyulangone.org.
